FOR RUNNERS FROM 6 TO 18.
The mission of Distance University is to teach young athletes the basics of commitment, teamwork, sportsmanship, character, and self-discipline through running, primarily middle and long distance running.
Our goal is to teach the athletes how to enjoy running through positive reinforcement, goal setting, and competition. We look at running as a life-long sport, one that can help young people handle the challenges in life, and make them successful in anything they wish to accomplish.
Cross country practices will be Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30. Formal practices will begin on August 4.
All practices will initially be at Gateway Park in El Mirage. As the season moves on we will be working hills into the workouts at the parking garage at Surprise City Hall. Attending as many practices as possible will greatly enhance your conditioning.
Track workouts will begin again in January.
